One to Two Year Program in Islamic Studies (Course Code IS04)

The two year study program (IS04) largely covers Tajweed based reading of the Qur’an, Biography of Muhammad SAWS, Fundamentals of Islamic Beliefs, Islamic Ethics in our daily life and Islamic History.

Without Tajweed, Qur’an is like a bride without adornment. Without following the basic rules of tajweed, recitation of the Qur’an at many places leads to the grave mistakes (lahn jail). These grave mistakes change the meaning of the verses the reader many times indulges in grave sins unknowingly.

Reading with Tajweed is the essential part of the Quran. Our program, ‘Learn Qur’an with Tajweed’ helps our readers know how to read the Qur’an by following the basic rules of tajweed.

The most dynamic part of Islamic belief is monotheism (tawhid) and the prophethood (risalah). The topic dealing with Islamic beliefs also covers Islamic eschatology, predestination, etc.  While we talk about Islamic ethics and values, we actually mean how to deal in our daily life. Islam is full of moral and ethical values and teachings, which are compulsory for all Muslims. Unfortunately, in present time this part is largely missing.

This subject, in fact, is a comprehensive elaboration of الدين معاملة, which simply means, “Religion is meant to deal with others.” Through this subject, a student shall learn Islamic values and ethics, rights of individuals, parents, children, spouse and neighbors, ethics and relationship between employer and employee, importance of contracts and dealings, etc.

For a Muslim, it is compulsory to know about the life of the Messenger of God SAWS. There are the examples from his life that the even the harsh opposition, criticism and circumstances did not deter him from his mission and the way he led the Muslims and put the foundation of a great nation. His moral and ethical values are inevitable to be followed by the entire humanity. All these are covered in the biography of Muhammad SAWS.

In Islamic History, we cover the period of the Prophet Muhammad SAWS, the four pious caliphs (Khulafah al-Rashidun), Umawid and Abbasid Caliphate, expansion of Islam and the most important, the intellectual journey of Muslims during the medieval Islamic civilization.

IS04 usually is taught 5 hours a week (Monday to Friday)
